Glaucoma Surgery in Bloomington and Peoria, IllinoisOphthalmologist Dr. Gregory Halperin was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He majored in English at Carleton College and went on to Rush Medical College at Rush University in Chicago and received his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1997.

Dr. Halperin completed an internship at St. Luke's Medical Center/Cook County Hospital. He then began his residency in ophthalmology at Rush University St. Luke's Medical Center. In 2001, Dr. Halperin participated in a one year fellowship in cornea and external disease at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

As of July 2003, Dr. Halperin, his wife and son moved to Bloomington, Illinois to join Gailey Eye Clinic. Dr. Halperin has a special interest in the latest techniques of cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation, as well as laser and surgical treatment of glaucoma. He has extensive experience using ophthalmic lasers to treat diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, secondary cataracts, and other diseases of the eye.

Dr. Halperin is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, and the Chicago Ophthalmological Society.

In his free time, Dr. Halperin enjoys spending time with his family, running, golf, and tennis.
